Finding the ideal candidate for a job is not an easy task. It involves hours of searching, sourcing, and interviewing applicants to establish a professional connection. Symplicity has been nurturing relationships with universities and career centers for decades to help students search for opportunities that get them a little closer to their career goals.
In our new series, Symplicity Recruit Spotlight, we introduce you to the Recruit team and shine the spotlight on some of our most valued Sympers.
In our second installment, we chat with Sabina Fidahić, one of our account executives. Originally from Bosnia, Sabina supports Recruit as a Sales Account Executive with her sales expertise and drive to help our customers. This is her story.
Tell us a little bit about your work history in sales
I started off working in customer service, unsure of what I wanted to do with my career. I naturally fell into sales because I loved to provide solutions for my customers. I’d ask them questions about why they weren’t using certain products or services my company offered, not even meaning to sell them anything, but as a way to help them. It ended up being exactly the right approach that gets you more sales. Within a year, I moved into sales and haven’t looked back since. Ultimately, I like helping people figure out a way to do things smarter.
What got you interested in higher education?
What drew me to education is Symplicity. What Symplicity does really well is that we create a way for students to connect with employers that they might not otherwise have access to. It’s an equitable solution for so many students that don’t have resources. That’s really why I was interested in education.
What brought you to join Symplicity and look into a career in edtech?
The company culture is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. People are so supportive, always willing to teach, but also to learn. I guess that comes from being a part of the education industry.
How does your previous work experience translate to your work at Symplicity?
Another natural progression. I’m still just helping people be smarter about how they spend their resources and time.
What would you say are the biggest pain points for clients today?
A lot of people are getting pressured to find qualified candidates with limited and not necessarily effective resources at hand. They’ve exhausted traditional sources and are tired of oversaturated platforms, so there is some burnout from that. By the time they come to me, they’re so relieved to have a laser-focused approach that gets them the candidates they need, and not just a bunch of spaghetti thrown at the wall and hoping something sticks.
What’s your favorite feature within Symplicity Recruit?
My favorite feature is the Global Search resume database. It’s such a great way to get a laser focused candidate pool that is not only actively looking for a job but perfectly suited for any recruiter’s needs. Doesn’t get much better than that!
What’s a Recruit feature you don’t think clients use enough?
Our analytics page is amazing! We give employers a way to measure their ROI on a per school basis and I don’t think a lot of people know about that. It’s a shame because it can help with future planning and help save money in the long term.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
I love to visit new places. I’ve traveled a lot in my lifetime and plan to continue doing that. I thoroughly enjoy walking so I make it a point to do that as often as I can. Now is particularly fun because it’s fall, the cooler weather, the changing colors, the yummy food - all my favorite things!
